Survey on the demands for the L-GAV

What do we need to change in the hospitality industry?

The National Collective Labour Agreement for the Hospitality Industry (L-GAV) regulates the wages and working conditions for all employees in the hospitality and hotel industry in Switzerland.

Our most important demands for the negotiations of the new L-GAV

Annual negotiation and increase of minimum wages and effective wages (adjustment according to inflation and real increase)

Professional experience and diplomas acquired abroad should be financially rewarded and be taken into account in wage categories.

The minimum wage may no longer be reduced when you change jobs.

The maximum working time per week is to be reduced to 40 hours without any reduction in wages.

An end to on-call work. Mandatory and reliable work planning 3 weeks in advance. No more hourly wage contracts without a guaranteed workload.

Fixed wage supplements should be provided for Sunday work.

Employees should be entitled to at least 12 weekends off work per year (excluding holidays) and 2 full consecutive rest days per week.

Work clothes and shoes must be paid for by the employer (without a deposit) Changing time should also count as working time.

Apprentices in the hospitality industry should be under the L-GAV and benefit from all its advantages.

Training of human resources managers and effective measures against all forms of harassment.
